Windows - How to Set DFS Replication
Environment
Introduction
DFS Replication for the offices on different locations
Procedures
Update Active Directory Schema (adprep.exe /forestprep) on the schema operations master, if there are Windows Server 2000 or 2003 Domain Controllers
Upgrade all of the servers for DFS Replication from Windows Server 2003 to be R2, that needs another serial number. After that, install DFS Replication Service on each server
Run "DFS Management" to set Namespace. Choose which one will be a Namespace server
Set Namespace name
Set which type of Namespace. If wanna have more namespace server, use Domain-based Namespace, and also set delegate management permission. If not, only Domain Admins can
If success, should like these
And then, ask you to create a replication group
Set the replication group and its folder
Choose which one to be a replication member
Set the primary member is which server
Before setting DFS Replication, should know that some files may be moved to %SharedFolder%\DfsrPrivate\PreExisting if not on primary member, when initial replication process
Simply, go to %SharedFolder%\DfsrPrivate\PreExisting to move the files, and also rename back the filename
Now, select which topology of the replication group
Set the schedule and bandwidth of the replication group
Review the replication group settings
Lastly, should like this, and be the same as Namespace setting to set delegate management permission
