How does replace a hard disk on Dell PowerEdge RAID

One day monitored a server had an emergency case, one hard drive failed.

To replace it:

  1. Quickly to buy a new hard drive.

  2. Unmounted the failed hard drive.
    NoteAs RAID-5, the server supports one hard drive failed.

    NoteSelect the disk that is receiving SMART alerts and execute the Offline task. Manually remove the disk.


  3. Mounted back a new hard drive. Then, the server auto started to re-build the RAID.

  4. For monitoring status, rebooted the server, and went to the RAID Controller, "F10".

  5. For almost two hours, it was done the re-building, and the server have been back to normal.
