Hard Disk Replacement | VMware EXS4

Environment
  • VMware ESX4
  • Dell PowerEdge R710
  • Dell PERC 6/i

Content
Received a warning - one Hard Disk of RAID5 failed. Needed to replace it

Because of Hot-Pluggable, just umount and mount, not need any reboot or shutdown

1: Umount the Hard Disk Failed

2: Mount back a New Hard Disk

3: Wait for time to rebuild RAID done

As had a spare hard disk (SAS) ready for this case mode, processing shorter. In fact, if no spare here, need at least one week for a new hard disk from vendor.
