Dispose of leftover camping gas canisters
Had a few camping gas canisters stored at home for quite some time.
One day, decided to check them and noticed signs of gas leakage. This raised concerns about their safety and proper disposal.
Searched online for information on how to dispose of camping gas canisters safely. Well, couldn’t. Only Handling Compressed Gas Cylinder from the Environmental Protection Department (https://www.epd.gov.hk/epd/english/environmentinhk/waste/guide_ref/waste_guidelines/unwantedgascylinder.html).
To confirm if there is an alternative, when recycling others, asked the staff at Green in Everywhere for advice.
They suggested, visiting the nearest fire station, as firefighters could help you.
Taking their advice, went to the fire station. Luckily, the firefighters were working outside the station. So, could ask them the question directly. If not, didn’t know how to contact. They were helpful on safely disposing of the canisters. However, this experience made me question how to manage these items in the future.
To avoid such issues, perhaps it’s best to use up all the gas in the canisters during each camping trip.
